How do I fix a swing optimally?

By far not every swing frame has such a high dead weight that no further attachment would be required. In order to effectively prevent tilting of the swinging frame, various methods are available. Choose the one appropriate for your purpose.

Hang a swing on the tree / trees

The easiest way to "set up" a swing is to hang it on a tree or between two trees. In order for the swing to hang securely on a tree, it must have a stable branch at a suitable height. You can easily hang a rocking board on it.

When attaching a swing between two trees, you need a tool, such as a tether or a heavy-duty harness. In addition, the two trees should not be too far apart, otherwise the stability of your construction suffers.

Concrete in the swing

The most stable attachment for a swing frame is the concreting in of the posts. If you live for rent, then ask your landlord for safety's sake. Concrete works in the garden are not always allowed without consultation. This work is not complicated, but the floor should be frost-free.

In order to dig in the right places, it is best to place the assembled swing frame in the desired location. Then mark with flour or fine sand where the posts are and then set the frame back to the side. Keep in mind, however, that with this form of attachment, the swinging frame will become lower than if you place it on the ground and secure it with anchors.

Lift the holes for setting in concrete. Recommended are about 50 cm depth. The hole should be about 15 cm larger than the post diameter. Put in a little bit of gravel and then the mixed concrete. Place the frame in the still moist concrete, at least 10 cm deep, but better 20 cm. The swing may only be used after drying the concrete.

Attach the swing frame with ground anchors or sleeves

Set the location of the swing in the same way as when setting in concrete and set the swinging frame aside. With a chalk line you can ensure that all anchors are at the same height. This makes it easier to set up the swing in the horizontal.

Depending on which type of ground anchors or impact sleeves you have decided on, you can embed them in concrete or screw them into the ground. Information about the individual work steps can be found on the Internet or ask directly when buying in the hardware store, how to secure them safely.

Tips

Do not let your children rock before properly attaching the swing frame. The lighter the frame, the faster avoidable accident happened.
