The right time for sowing is March. Up to the Eisheiligen the small plantlets are then already large enough to be transplanted directly into the field.
Under these conditions, the cockade flower sprouts already after eight to fourteen days. As soon as the second or third pair of leaves shows, you have to separate the small plants. As a result, the seedlings do not take each other's place and develop with good care to vigorous plants.
Sow in the field
From May you can sow Gallardia directly into the perennial flowerbed. Again, the seeds of the light germ may not be covered with soil. Protect them with a net from hungry birds who like to mess about the seeds.
Do not cut off anything that has died in autumn, as the cockade flower is often self-sufficient. You can thereby ensure very dense stocks.
Tips
The cockade flower blooms already in the first year. If you place about ten small plants close together you will get very attractive flower carpets.
