It does not matter if you keep your pine as a bonsai or grow it as a common conifer, as the pine is found in nature, every kind of cultivation requires a pruning now and then. Depending on the nature of your jaw, this has a relatively rapid growth. Neglecting the pruning, a well-groomed bonsai quickly becomes a wildly proliferating conifer. At least once a year you should therefore reach for the scissors.
General rule of thumb for cutting trees
Experts advise to cut deciduous trees only in summer. Cold inhibits growth as the tree recovers in the cold season and has no power to regenerate from a cut injury. Conifers are less susceptible for the following reasons:
