The vast majority of hardy cacti are high in the Andes and North American mountains. Shadows and nutrient-rich soil are in short supply there. Therefore, vote for the siting on the natural conditions. How to do it right:
Traditional garden soil contains too many nutrients for frugal cacti. Targeted tillage optimizes the location quality for the claims of the succulents. To do this, bag the bed about 30 cm deep. On the sole, spread a layer of gravel or gravel as drainage. Refill the excavated material after enriching with lime-free quartz sand or perlite.
