The Araucaria can be propagated via seeds
So you pull a branch off the monkey tree
The monkey tree (botanical Araucaria) has become a popular conifer in our latitudes. This is ensured by the eye-catching shape and the triangular needles, which are much longer than the native conifers. Offshoots can be obtained from seeds themselves.

Seeds for the monkey tree are available from specialist retailers. Harvesting seed from one's own monkey tree is difficult because the tree only blooms after 30 years and then develops germinable seeds in the cones.
Most varieties of Araucaria tolerate little frost. Therefore, only buy seeds from trees grown in Germany. These are more hardy. Especially the Chilean Araucaria is considered to be good frost resistant when it is a bit older.
Non-hardy varieties should be sowed immediately in the tub, so that you can later overwinter the offspring frost-free.
Extract seed from seeds
For the seed of the monkey tree to germinate, it must still be as fresh as possible. If you can not sow it immediately, it may be stored in a freezer bag for a few weeks in the fridge if necessary.
You can sow directly at the desired location outdoors. It is even better, however, to breed the offshoot first in small pots. The best time for sowing is early autumn.
So you sow a monkey tree
When the shoot is pulled out of the desired location outdoors, make sure the ground is well drained. Waterlogging does not tolerate the Araucaria. If necessary, mix sand and gravel under the ground.
Extracted in the pot offshoot in the winter in a bright frost-free place at about 15 degrees.
It takes about four months for the seed to germinate. As soon as the monkey trees are big enough, you can transplant offshoots grown in the pot or place them in larger containers.
Tips
Young monkey trees are only very hardy. Protect the young trees from frost through a thick mulch cover and cover with fleece or jute in very cold areas.
