When does cotton grass bloom?
In the natural garden, cotton grass represents a decorative enrichment for the creatively planted moor-bed. It is not so much the white flowers that cause a sensation. Cottongrass inspires with a long flowering time
Under normal weather conditions, the flowering season starts in April. At this time, rather inconspicuous, white ears with a length of 1.5 to 3.0 cm form. In the course of May and June, the white wool hairs develop, which can reach a length of up to 5 cm. It seems as if each peduncle has put on a white woolen hat.
Only the summer wind brings an end to the spectacle, because the silk hairs serve to spread the seeds and float away with the ripe fruit. Following the landing, the white hairs fall off the black seeds.
