How and when - to cut the sour cherry

Cutting depending on the species
Depending on the variety, sour cherries develop a different growth. While some form whiplash-like shoots and have an overgrown growth pattern, others show a short fruit wood and strive upright.
Overhanging seasons
Varieties such as 'gerema', 'shadow morelle' and 'morello fire' develop a strongly overhanging growth if they are not routinely distracted by a cut in the barriers. Their whip-like shoots are extremely long and they produce fruit on annual wood. For these varieties, you must shorten all long side shoots by two-thirds.
