Propagation over cuttings or seeds

The frankincense plant can be propagated in two ways. Either cut cuttings or sow seeds. The propagation of cuttings works almost always.

Drawing incense plants out of seeds is not only tedious. It is also difficult to get to seed. Only specialized nurseries offer this. Sometimes you can be lucky with file sharing.

To cut cuttings, you need a healthy mother plant. The propagation works very quickly, so you get after a few weeks new young frankincense.

You need shoots that each have at least one or two side shoots. If the vine is long enough, divide it into individual pieces of 10 to 15 centimeters in length.

So that the frankincense plant looks nicely compact, several cuttings are always put in a pot.

Sow frankincense

Young frankincense plants like it brightly. However, they do not tolerate the direct sun so well at first. Slowly accustom them to the bright light.

Do not fertilize young frankincense plants in the first few months.

Tips

Frankincense plants are not hardy. They are therefore usually drawn only as annual plants. A hibernation in a frost-free place is possible.
