The potting soil, in which the poinsettia was planted when buying, is not always really well suited. Poinsettias like it slightly acidic and need a water-storing substrate. If you want to enjoy your poinsettia for a longer time, simply mix the earth yourself.

To mix earth for poinsettias and repot the poinsettia, you will need:
Half of the soil should consist of peat mixed with a quarter of garden soil. Sand is mixed in to keep the soil loose. Lava granules ensure that the plant substrate can store enough water.
Tips
When fertilizing poinsettias you should be economical. Too many nutrients provide a supersaturation of the plant substrate, so that the poinsettia is received. When adding liquid fertilizers, take only half the quantity stated on the packaging.
