Anyone who is allowed to name many daylilies in the garden will have to decide after flowering whether he wants to win the seeds or not. They can serve the breeding of new generations. But how does the sowing succeed?
When are the seeds ripe?
About 6 to 8 weeks after the flowers wither, the seeds are ripe. As daylilies flower from species to variety at different times, the maturity of the seed is different. The maturity is noticeable by burst seed pods.
It is best to remove the seeds on a dry day. If you want to dry them, put them in the air for a few days to dry in the vicinity of the heating, for example. Then they can be packed in a seed bag. It is much more recommendable to put the seeds in the fridge. The germination rate in spring is higher due to this stratification.
What do the seeds look like?
The seeds are easy to recognize. They are small (0.3 to 0.5 cm in diameter), black, shiny and roundish to teardrop-shaped triangular. Their surface is smooth and they look plump when fresh.
How does the sowing succeed?
Sowing is not the most popular method for multiplying daylilies. It is much more complicated and difficult than the sharing of the plant. In addition, the results are not genuine. That is, if you have a daylily hybrid, sowing daylilies with different characteristics than the mother plant.

The young daylilies should be planted in a bright and warm place. Ideal are sunny to partially shaded locations in a sheltered area of the garden. If you do not have a garden, you can keep the daylilies in the pot on the balcony.
