Yarrow: species and distribution areas
Yarrow occurs in many regions of Europe as a wild plant on roadsides and in meadows forage. The genus of the yarrow (Achillea) belongs to the family of the daisy family (Asteraceae) and is attractive not only because of its use as a medicinal plant for cultivation in the garden.
The white species of yarrow
The species of yarrow with a characteristic white flower color includes, for example, the common yarrow or common yarrow (Achillea millefolium). This can be found in natural landscapes in many different countries around the globe, only in the Mediterranean area, it is less common. Sometimes, the color of the white yarrow also changes slightly to a pink color. In addition, there are also white yarrow species such as the Hungarian meadow sheaf or breeding varieties such as the Achillea Filipendulina hybrid "Heinrich Vogeler".
Colorful alternatives for the garden bed

In contrast, the intensely red-colored paprika yarrow is primarily distributed in Central Europe. In the garden trade today are mainly natural and cultivated varieties in white, yellow and red or different color gradations to find. Combine different colors to attractive dry bouquets
A special feature of the yarrow is in addition to the possible uses in cooking and the fact that the flowers retain a large part of their magnificent flower color when drying. This way, colorful yarrows can not only be combined freshly but also in the form of dry bouquets into attractive bouquets. For this, the flowering inflorescences must be timely cut and dried as quickly as possible suspended head first, so that no mold or decay processes can use.
Tips
Yarrows tend to age at the same location after about three to four years. Therefore, you should regularly prick older specimens in the garden carefully and multiply by division. So keep the stocks "young" and blooming.
