Cut edelweiss
Basically, the edelweiss is a very easy-care perennial: The undemanding high mountain plant needs neither fertilizer nor much water. On the contrary, the plant prefers rather meager living conditions - just as in its natural location. You do not have to cut the edelweiss either.
Remove blooming parts of plants
The only cutting measure is to cut back the edelweiss after flowering to about a hand's breadth above the ground. Bloomed plant parts rob the plant a lot of power and should therefore be removed - unless you want to gain seeds yourself and multiply the edelweiss. The sowing of the mature (and previously stratified!) Seeds takes place in the following spring, at best in March.
Tips
After the autumn pruning, you can add some lime to the plant, which is carefully incorporated into the potting soil. Be careful not to damage the sensitive roots.
