The first flowers of the pipe shrub open depending on the variety in May or June. By mid or late July, the shrub will always produce new flowers.
The white flowers may be filled or unfilled depending on the variety. They are several inches tall and look very decorative through the yellow stamens.
However, it is a prerequisite that you cut the pipe shrimp very carefully, if at all. Too much pruning removes the flower-bearing branches that form on the main spurs.
Tips
Not every pipe shrub develops sweet-smelling flowers. If you want to cultivate a false jasmine, which gives off the typical scent, you should make an odor test with the gardener before buying. You can also propagate such varieties via cuttings.
