The perfect soil for olive trees
Olive trees thrive best on sandy, dry and loose soils. Good olive soil contains rather few nutrients, must not be too sour and not too loamy. In particular, clay is not suitable for an olive, because the solid soil encloses the roots too tight and thus brings them to death. Also peat has nothing to do in good olive soil, after all, this ingredient increases the acidity of the soil.

As an alternative to the mixture described, you can also use special citrus soil, as citrus fruits have similar soil properties to olives. Absolutely necessary is a good drainage, because moisture and especially waterlogging is not tolerated by olives. Too much moisture will cause your sap to react with leaf shedding.

Plant your olive tree at the latest when the roots already look out of the planting hole - in this case the pot is too small. At best, it is repotted in the spring after the break in winter.
