Put orchid in a glass vase - That's how it works
In order to stylishly present a noble orchid, the transparent plastic pot is not very suitable. As the epitome of exoticism and luxury, the flower diva in a glass vase is much more impressive. How to put an orchid properly in a glass, we explain the example of a Phalaenopsis in two variants.
Variant 1: With decorative elements
As a glass vase opens the view to the network of aerial roots, this technique uses decorative components such as Euphorbia spinosa, Sphagnum and mother of pearl slivers. That is how it goes:
Finally, use the moss to cover the surface of the substrate in an airy way and avoid the eyes.
Variant 2: skillfully used in orchid substrate
Who would like to continue the classical pot cultivation in the glass vase, decides for this variant. In the process, the orchid is potted, the previous substrate is shaken off and dried aerial roots are cut off. Then fill a 2-3 cm high layer of expanded clay on the vase bottom as drainage. Proceed as follows:
As you fill in the coarse orchid substrate, pat the vase from time to time on the table to spread the pieces of bark without any air holes.
Tips for care in the glass
To properly pour a phalaenopsis in the jar, pour soft, room-warm water into the jar. After a few minutes, pour out the irrigation water completely, so that no waterlogging and rot can form. During flowering, add some liquid orchid fertilizer to every second or third watering.
Tips
Easier than a Phalaenopsis, arrange the Vanda orchid in the jar. Since this species of orchid thrives without soil, put the previously sprayed aerial roots in the vase. For decoration, you can optionally distribute some glass beads on the floor. A glass rod provides the necessary stability of the Vanda orchid when needed.
