Evening primrose thrilled with long flowering time
The often intensely scented evening primrose (Oenothera) with their often very colorful flowers in yellow, pink or white are an ornament for any garden. The perennial shows its flowering throughout the summer, and it can often be animate to a second flower.
Flowering throughout the summer
Evening primroses bloom at the right location between June and September, although this perennial has a special feature: it only opens its flowers in the evening and closes it again in the morning. In addition, the evening primrose can stimulate quite easily to a second flowering, provided you remove bruised shoots. A pruning towards the end of winter also ensures that flowering starts sooner and a second flowering becomes more likely.
Tips
Evening primroses sow themselves very reliably, but you have to leave the withered parts there. In addition, it is important to protect the seed capsules from hungry birds - find the evening primrose seeds very tasty.
