You do not have to cut a column hornbeam
In contrast to normal hornbeam, the common hornbeam remains much narrower. It is therefore often planted as a single plant or as a boundary of a garden path. Cutting is not necessary. If the Greater Hornbeam has become too tall, you may cut it back more.
When should a column hornbeam be cut?
If you have enough space, let the common hornbeam grow. The tree remains narrow even in old age and has a slightly pyramidal habit.
Naturally awake Pale hornbeams are especially effective when they are not in close proximity to other trees.

You can therefore cut the trees very well in shape. Conical forms are popular in which the tree tapers towards the top and a little reminiscent of a fir.
In principle, however, the cane hornbeam can be cut into almost any shape. Even if you want to make an avenue with square trees, this is not a problem with column hornbeam.
