Passion fruit - origin and season
Often the terms passion fruit and passion fruit are used in this country as a synonym. Both terms are fruits of the passion flower, whereas passion fruits have a yellow shell in contrast to the darker passion fruit.

Originally, the passion fruit as a plant and fruit probably comes from the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Today, most fresh maracujas in the local supermarkets come from South America for the harvest season in early summer and summer. Passion fruits are not as common as fruit for fresh consumption in this country as the darker colored passion fruit. But just like these, they can be cut and spooned in half. The juice of the ripe Passion fruits tastes not quite as sweet as the pressed from passion fruit, but rather sour and is thus particularly refreshing on hot days.
Tips & Tricks
Mature passion fruits should lay heavy like an egg in the hand. If they feel very light, they are usually already too dry inside and no longer fresh.
