The three types of hops
There are three types of hops, all of which are native to the northern hemisphere. The most common cultivated in Germany is the real hops. The largest growing area is the Hallertau or Holledau, where the hops of the same name is pulled.
Another type of hop is Japanese hops, which grows once a year, and Yuann hops. Both varieties are grown from seeds, while real hops are mainly propagated through cuttings and root division.
