The especially common in Central Europe Dog Rose (Rosa corymbifera) - not to be confused with the very similar dog rose (Rosa canina) - is a very easy-care and vigorous wild rose, which is wonderful for a hedge planting in the garden. Dog roses are found almost everywhere
As perfectly adapted to their environment wild roses, all hedgerow roses are not just in terms of location and care conditions quite undemanding, but also extremely frost hardy. Rosa corymbifera tolerates temperatures of up to minus 29 ° C and is therefore perfect for planting even in very cold regions. Although it is true that honeysuckle shed their foliage in the fall, in summer they form a dense, impenetrable hedge with fresh, green foliage and numerous large, fragrant flowers. In nature, the dogrose is found mainly in bushes and at the edges of dry forests.
Dog Rose or Dog Rose?
The term "dog rose" above all the two closely related and thus externally very similar, but still different wild rose species Rosa corymbifera (the actual dog rose) and Rosa canina (also called dog rose) understood. The well-known and very healthy rose hips, the bright red fruits of the wild roses, are collected by the also domestic dog rose. On the other hand, the fruits of the dogrose are not used in the kitchen and naturopathy.
