Günsel is a very widespread in Europe plant genus of the family Lamiaceae (Lamiaceae). The mostly blue or blue-violet flowering, up to 30 centimeters high waking plants are wonderful as an ornamental plant in the garden, but are traditionally also used as medicinal plants. A well-known representative is the creeping Günsel (Ajuga reptans), a very vigorous groundcover.
Which location does Günsel prefer?
Günsel prefers sunny to moderately half shady locations with moderately moist, nutrient-rich and slightly acidic to neutral soil.
Should you water Günsel?
In very dry summers you can pour the Günsel, otherwise additional watering is not necessary.

Günsel is very robust, but in very humid summers and in unfavorable locations (especially in the shade) quite susceptible to the powdery mildew. This usually does not make much of the plant and is just an optical problem. If you are bothered by the white surface, you can use a spraying agent - but then the Günsel may no longer be used for healing or kitchen purposes. In addition, there are various home remedies, with above all a milk-water mixture has proven.

Günsel proliferates very well even over seeds and foothills, but also a division is possible.
