Effectors do not make offshoots
The Efeutute is a pure climbing plant, which itself does not form offshoots. If you want to grow more plants for the apartment or the aquarium, you must multiply Efeututen yourself. That's easy and almost always works.
Pull new offshoots of the Efeutute itself
There are two different types of roots: the supply root, which pulls nutrients and moisture out of the earth, and the aerial roots, which make their way up the trellises.
Deposits do not form from the aerial roots. So it does not help if you simply cover an aerial root with earth. In order to gain new offshoots, you must multiply the efeutute yourself.
The propagation of efeutut occurs exclusively via cuttings. You can not divide the root ball. In indoor culture, fruit trees hardly ever blossom, so you can not harvest seeds here either.
How to get cuttings of efeututen
It is not difficult to win cuttings from an efeutute. Simply cut a longer shoot, possibly with aerial roots, and divide it into pieces of 8 to 15 cm. At each section at least three leaf nodes must remain.
Basically, you can cut cuttings all year round, but especially favorable is the spring. Then the roots drift faster because the days are longer light.
Remove the lower leaves! Do not leave them lying around so they will not get into the hands of babies. Effectors are poisonous to humans and animals!
Pull cuttings in the potting pot or water glass
Cuttings of the eggs can be pulled in the potting pot or in the glass of water. Grow pots fill with a mixture of peat and sand. The water glass should be as low in calories as possible.
Insert or place the cuttings in the pot or glass. The location for the cuttings should be as bright and warm as possible. Temperatures around 20 degrees are ideal.
Make sure that the substrate never completely dries out. As a precaution, put a transparent plastic bag over the pot.
When the cuttings have formed roots
It often only takes a few days for the cuttings to form roots. Once the roots are about two to three centimeters long, you may repot cuttings from the water glass. Put it in a substrate that should be as loose as possible and water-storing.
In the potting pot, you continue to care for the Eftutute offshoot as usual. Wrap them when the roots look down from the vent hole.
Tips
Just like the Common Ivy (Hedera helix), the Efeutute belongs to the plants that significantly improve the indoor climate. It absorbs pollutants from the air via the leaves and cleans them in this way. For example, an ideal location is a seat next to the printer in the office.
