To reproduce oregano itself - this is how the offspring succeeds
You can simply multiply oregano by cuttings, seeds or division. Suitable for the offspring are healthy and vigilantly vigilant shrubs that reliably pass on their good genetic material to the new plantlets.
Propagation by seedlings
For this very uncomplicated offspring you only need:
Separate a branch from the plant and carefully remove all leaves from the branch until the third or fourth eye. Shorten the shoot a bit and put it in the container filled with soil. After only about a week, the small cuttings start to drive their first roots. You can put the oregano in the field after a few weeks when it has developed vigorously. Alternatively, you can cultivate the seedling in a larger planter on the balcony or terrace.
Add oregano from seeds
The oregano forms in the flowered lip blooms numerous, about one millimeter large nut. From these seeds you can grow very many offspring in no time.
Fill a planter with potting soil and sprinkle the seeds loosely. Since oregano is a light germ, these must not be covered with earth. Moisten the seed with a sprayer and keep it evenly moist in the next few days.
Put a freezer bag over the culture container to create a humid greenhouse climate. To prevent mildew, do not forget to air once a day. In a bright place without direct sunlight sprout the plantlets after about a week. If you have reached a size of ten centimeters, you can separate them.
Propagation by division
This form of reproduction succeeds very easily. By dividing you not only get several oregano perennials, the plant is also rejuvenated and thus drives out more vigorously. The right time for the division of the clumps is the early spring. Follow these steps:
Tips
Wait about a quarter of a year to harvest the first leaves of the split oregano. Early plucking of the leaves unnecessarily weakens the plant, resulting in fewer leaves and essential oils.
