Prefer beans in the cold frame and in the greenhouse
Beans from our own garden provide fresh vitamins. After a long winter, it's already itching to start growing. Direct sowing into the bed requires maintenance until mid-May. On the other hand, the greenhouse and cold frame offer the opportunity to start growing beans earlier.
Preferring - an alternative to direct sowing
A good alternative for growing beans is the cold frame and greenhouse, even if the ground warms up moderately in the spring due to the persistently cool temperatures.
10 to 12 degrees Celsius, the soil temperature should be at least so that the soil seeds can germinate. The warmer the soil, the faster the seedlings will develop and the young plants will become more resistant to snails and diseases.
In the greenhouse and in the cold frame the bean seeds find a preheated soil and the damp climate provides for an additional growth spurt. Suitable is the preference for the heat-loving rod and bush beans
Prefer beans in the greenhouse
For the advancement of the beans, both the cold and the heated greenhouse are suitable. In the cold greenhouse, bean sowing begins at the end of March and sowing into the heated greenhouse takes place at the beginning of March:

Tips & Tricks
If you want to leave your beans in the greenhouse until they are harvested, you can choose a variety that does not grow too high and therefore does not need long vine rods. Well suited is the variety "Rakker" by Sperli. "Rakker" is a green spaghetti bean with 40 to 90 cm long, slender pods and mild aromatic taste.
