Jacob's Ladder loves sunny location
The Jacob's Ladder (Polemonium caeruleum) is sometimes referred to as Blue Sky Ladder or Vervain. The group forming, up to 90 centimeters high perennial develops from late May to July on upright stems panicles of delicate blue flowers with bright yellow stamens. It sows itself strong and can be annoying.
Jacob's Ladder needs sunny location
The Jacob's ladder prefers a sunny to slightly half-shaded (but always clear!) Space in the garden. The soil should be nutrient-rich and not too dry - quite the contrary, because the perennial prefers a rather humid stand. Nevertheless, the soil should be permeable, because waterlogging is not tolerated.
Ideal for natural gardens
The species occurring on wet meadows in Europe, Asia and northern Europe should also be used in the garden. It is well suited for close-to-nature designs and in combinations with non-restrictive companion plants such as dog chamomile (Anthemis). You can also put Jacob's ladders in perennial beds if the soil is wet enough.
Tips
Jacob ladders should be watered in the summer when dry. Cut out wilted inflorescences regularly to extend flowering time.
