Transplanting a young blood plum: It's that easy
Older trees are not suitable for relocation. The young deep root can be transplanted. We give you helpful hints for a successful implementation.
Basics
The ideal time to transplant is the early autumn, before the first frosts come. After the harvest, the young fruit tree tolerates a change of location in time for the hibernation. Note that the deep root on the surface forms many small roots. These must not be damaged when excavating.
Accordingly, the root ball is completely exposed. He is a bit taller than the treetop. Prepare the planting hole in advance. This prevents the roots from drying out.

The hole must be about twice as large as the root ball. The soil of the sole is loosened slightly to avoid compaction of the soil. In addition, the excavation is enriched with humus. Alternatively, a mixture of compost and horn chips is suitable.

Sandy soil is not suitable as a site for the ornamental wood.
Before planting, the root ball of the blood plum is soaked in plenty of water. Then position the blood plum in the center of the hole. Press the soil in between when refilling. In this way, the plantlet gets hold and air holes are avoided. If required, a support post can be integrated directly for protection during planting.
Subsequent supply
After insertion, the regular administration of lime-free water (rainwater) supports the rooting. So that the soil does not freeze during this important process, the wood should not be replanted too late. A change of location in the spring should generally be waived.
Tips & Tricks
The Blutpflaume delights with abundant yield on beds, orchards or even in tubs. For narrow locations dwarf breeding or weak-blooded plums are suitable.
