A flowerbed can take many forms: for example, if it is in the middle of a lawn, around it is often a good choice. However, depending on the size and shape of the lawn, the island bed may be shaped irregular rather than circular, which is entirely up to you. Read what to look for when creating a round flower bed.

First of all, a round bed belongs somewhere in the middle of a larger area like a lawn and should not be chosen as a border plant. For the edge - such as a wall or a fence - you should better choose other shapes such as a half or quarter circle. The latter - the so-called piece of cake - makes an elegant figure, especially in corners. Circular beds, on the other hand, do not really stand out on the edge, they must have enough space around them and be visible from all sides.

The choice of plants should be based primarily on the location, so that you select the perennials pas to the light and soil conditions. Depending on the size of the bed, you can also plan the plants so that the island looks attractive in any season. Regarding the grouping of perennials and shrubs, large, perennial shrubs, ornamental shrubs and small trees are planted in the middle, while the height of the plants with awake proximity to the Beetrand decreases more and more. Between perennial flowering plants you can set ornamental grasses, groundcover, evergreen plants, bulbs and one to two-year-old summer flowers. This variety relaxes the overall picture, but should not be exaggerated in terms of the number of different types: In small beds three to five different species are sufficient, in large it can be quite eight to ten.
