When is harvest time for barberry? - How to recognize ripe berries
The common barberry (Berberis vulgaris) is a term for home gardeners as a perfect hedge plant with a summery visual protection factor. Harvest time begins in late August
After the flowering season in May and June you do not have to wait long for the beginning of the harvest season. In July the yellow flowers turn into elongated, 1 cm long berries in the sunny spot. As long as the fruits are still green, the time frame for the harvest remains closed.
From the end of August / beginning of September, sourthorn berries shine bright scarlet to dark red. With this color, the fruits signal their harvest maturity.
