Aloe vera rarely gets sick
Aloe vera is a robust plant that is not prone to diseases and pests. Only due to care mistakes deficiencies can occur, which can be easily avoided by the correct selection of the location and the substrate.
Aloe vera helps against skin diseases
Aloe vera appears since the 12th century as a medicinal plant in German pharmacopoeias. Thanks to the active substances contained in it, aloe vera is still used today against all sorts of ailments:
Aloe vera itself is rarely ill
Aloe vera, to which many healing powers are attributed, is extremely robust in its habit. As a result of care mistakes, the aloe vera plants still get sick, but recover again when you change the care. Low light conditions, permanent waterlogging and lack of nutrients are the most common causes of deficiency symptoms.
Who z. B. pours its aloe vera from above on the leaves and keeps the substrate permanently wet, promotes the formation of fungus and will soon realize that the leaves are soft and possibly even the roots start to rot. With too little water, however, the leaves roll in. If the aloe vera is exposed to temperatures of less than 5 ° C, the leaves may first become glassy, then brown and later fall off. Brown discoloration on the leaves is evidence of nutrient deficiency.
Avoid care mistakes, strengthen plant
The well-kept plants are rarely visited by pests. If you repot your aloe on a regular basis and always take fresh soil, fertilizing is unnecessary. If your aloe is outside in summer, you can occasionally fertilize it with universal or special succulent fertilizer. The young plants should be slowly acclimated to the sun. In case of infestation of wool or scale insects rinsing with cold water and additional treatment with alcohol solution helps.
Tips
In strong sun, the leaves of the aloe vera turn brown. However, this discoloration is harmless and not a sign of disease or poor care, but only for sun protection.
