Share bamboo easily

The right time and the ideal weather
In March or late summer is the perfect time to plant or share a bamboo. Do not disturb the roots between April and June as new stalks grow!
Take into account not only the right time, but also the ideal weather. For professionally limiting or dividing your bamboo, a cloudy, damp day is recommended. Ideally, after a rainstorm, when the earth is moist and loose.
Share bamboo in the bucket - but how?
At the latest after 2 to 3 years, when the bamboo bursts the bucket or the stalks overgrow the tub edge, it is time to divide or remove it. Before you reach for ax, spade or saw, let the bale swell in a water tub. Then continue working in the following steps:

Detach free-awake bamboo
Anyone who wants to dig up or separate a free-standing bamboo should first thoroughly water the soil and soak it. Especially on a dry and hard ground. Depending on the size of the plant you can completely undermine and dig up the bamboo or you have to remove it piece by piece.
The radical alternative, if you want to go fast
Cut woody stalks with the chainsaw. This creates space to better prepare the spade afterwards. But beware! The hard bamboo fibers sometimes get stuck in the chain and block the saw. This is especially dangerous if the chain jumps off, even though it is tight!
Important: Wear safety clothing and face protection so that the sawn-off bamboo sticks do not fly into your eyes when bending over.
Tips & Tricks
Cover separated root pieces immediately with moist potting so that they do not dry out. Then you plant them in large mortar tubs. These are inexpensive, mobile planters that can be buried and prevent the spread of the roots. Or in the circle of friends there are grateful bamboo customers.
