Dry lemon slices are a wonderful fragrance dispenser
Lemon slices spread their wonderful scent even when dried. In the cold season, they are also a popular decorative element. Nobody has to buy them expensive in the shop. From a fresh lemon you can easily and conveniently conjure up a few dry slices.
Heat is important
Drying lemon slices faces two challenges:
When drying the windows there is a risk that they will mold because of the high humidity. Lemon slices therefore need a lot of heat to dry faster. Only on summer days drying is possible directly under the hot sun.
Prepare lemon slices
First wash the lemons clean and then dry them off. Then use a sharp knife to cut discs about 0.5 cm thick. The slices should be as even as possible.
Lemon slices dry - these possibilities are there
There are three different ways to dry the lemon slices in a short time.
Dry on a warm heater
It is winter and the heating is running at full speed? Wonderful! Spread a few slices of lemon on a piece of baking paper and then on the heating or on the warm window sill above.
The drying process can take three to five days, but from the first moment it delights with a pleasant citrus scent.
Dry in the oven
At 90 degrees in the oven, lemons can lose a lot of moisture within a few hours. For this to be able to desecrate, the door should be left ajar. Spread the slices on baking paper and apply them several times during drying.
Stop the drying process when the lemon slices are no longer soft and the peelings look leathery.
Tips
If you turn the lemon slices generously from both sides into sugar before drying, you will receive a delicious snack. However, this must not be too dry.
Drying in the dehydrator
A dehydrator works effectively and saves energy. If you have such a device, you can use it wonderfully for drying lemon slices. Observe the instructions of the manufacturer. Depending on the thickness of the panes, drying can take between 24 and 36 hours.
