Lemon tree has spider mites - what to do now?
Like almost all citrus trees, the lemon tree is prone to disease and pest infestation. Plant juice sucking pests such as the spider mites occur especially in a pure room keeping.
Red citrus spider mite infests above all Zimmerzitronen
If you discover strikingly bright spots on the leaves of your lemon tree, it is most likely an infestation with the red citrus spider mite. The adult arachnids are only about 0.5 millimeters in size and sit mostly on the undersides of the leaves, where they tap off the pathways of the plant and suck the plant juice. A strong infestation can be seen in the characteristic webs, which can spread under the leaves, in the leaf axils and up to the shoot tip. At this stage, the tree is likely already dropping leaves. A sheet shedding should always make you suspicious and look for the causes.
Prevention is better than treatment
Spider mites infest preferably lemon trees kept in the room, as the animal prefers dry air. Also improperly wintered - d. H. too warm and too dark wintered - lemons are often affected, after all, heating air dries out the already dry indoor air in winter even more. Since prevention is more useful than cure, you can prevent the animals as follows:

Sooner or later, however, it will catch every lemon tree once: spider mites! Have you discovered the annoying animals early - d. H. so far there are only a few - should it suffice to spray the tree on several days in a row with a soap solution or shower off. Take care that the soapy water does not get into the ground - this could damage the tree. Especially for this purpose, a potash soap is very good. In case of a strong infestation usually only the chemical club helps, which is however necessary because of the possibly possibly strong damage of the tree. In order not to let it happen so far, you should examine your lemon tree at least once a week for a pest infestation - only then you can react in time. Spider mites preferably occur in summer.
