Yucca palm has black tips - What can be done about it?
The Yucca or Palmlilie is one of the most popular indoor plants. The easy-care plant is easily recognizable by its typical trunk and its sword-shaped, pointed leaves. These are leathery-rough and covered with a waxy layer to protect against dehydration. The Yucca comes from the drylands of the US and Mexico and is therefore used to a rather dry climate. Black or brown leaf tips can therefore have different causes.
Causes of dark leaf tips
In most indoor plants, dark and dry leaf tips are an indication of too dry indoor air. Yuccas, however, are usually relatively insensitive to dryness, which is why other causes of dewatering of the leaf tips may be considered. Dry air
If the leaves on the tips and edges turn brown, perhaps even curl up or dry completely, then the plant usually suffers from too low humidity. As a rule, species native to tropical rainforests show these signs, which can be remedied by higher air humidity (for example, by more frequent spraying). Yuccas, however, are used to dryness, which is why this cause is very rare in question.

On the other hand, drying leaves on Yuccas are more likely to cause heat damage, especially if the plant generally leaves a rather slack overall impression. The cause is jammed heat, which can be a problem, especially in winter, when many yuccas are over or over a heater, where the heat can not escape and instead damages the plant. Instead, during the winter months, yuccas need a vegetation break, during which they are cultivated at about 5 to 10 ° C in a bright location. By contrast, when hibernating in the warm living room, many yuccas develop diseases.
Other possible causes
If the two causes of the dry leaf tips mentioned above are not an option, then one of the following reasons could possibly be behind it:
Leaf tips that are already dyed black will not turn green again. If the sight disturbs you too much, only the scissors will help. However, it can happen that the interface turns black again. Real remedy creates only the elimination of the cause.
