Many types of fruit are available in food stores today almost year-round from growing areas around the globe. By contrast, forest blueberries harvested from wild forest stands can only be obtained fresh from regional stocks in midsummer.

Even with a so-called blueberry crest, it may well be hard work to harvest wild blueberries in the forest. However, these are far more intense in flavor than the commercially cultivated varieties of the cultivated blueberries.
