The best time is in the spring
When soil temperatures in March and April exceed the 10-degree mark, growth in the turf starts. Now is the best time to combat the weed with the Scarifier. The weather itself is dry, ideally with a light cloud cover. Another window for this care opens in late summer between September and October.
Fertilization optimizes regeneration
One to two weeks before scarifying you should fertilize your lawn. This has the advantage that the strained green area then regenerates faster. Then water the lawn thoroughly so that the fertilizer grains are fully utilized.
Alternatively, after scarifying, you can supply your green carpet with all the essential nutrients. If you have decided on an appointment in the fall, you should ideally administer a potassium-rich fertilizer.

Gasoline-powered scarifiers can be borrowed at many hardware stores. The investment in the device is not worthwhile, because it is used only once or twice a year. In functioning neighborhoods, a scarifier is sometimes procured jointly. How to work correctly with the device:
A small lawn of a few square meters can alternatively be scarred by hand. Hand Verticutter are equipped with a slightly oscillating knife roller that pull you through the grass. Manual scarifying is of course associated with a very high expenditure of energy.
Tips
