Schönmalven need little care and very decorative. However, they have one drawback: they are slightly toxic. You should therefore do without the ornamental plant, which is also called the maple tree, if there are small children in the house or if you keep pets such as dogs and cats.
Slightly toxic even on skin contact
So far it is not known which toxins contains the beautiful mallow. However, it has been proven that sensitive people react to complaints when they come into contact with the skin. The skin becomes inflamed and blisters.
Therefore, only keep beautiful flowers out of the reach of small children and pets, as ingestion of the plant components may be even more harmful. This is especially true in winter, when the plant has to be overwintered in the house.

The Schönmalve ensures that almost all year round for beautiful flowers. With good care and a favorable location, the non-hardy plant can grow up to three meters high.
