Common diseases and pests of chives
Usually, chives are rarely infested with fungi or pest insects - it is often even recommended to plant chives along with endangered flowers to prevent such infestations. Chives turn yellow
The most common health problem with chives is yellowing, dry leaves. Of course, these can no longer be used in the kitchen and they multiply quickly. In most cases, the chive turns yellow because it is too dry or too hot.In this case, countermeasures are simple: water the plant more frequently and protect it from excessive sunlight. Especially in humid and cool summers, the leaves of chives are attacked by the rust mushroom "Puccinia alli", the so-called chive rust. On the other hand, aphids are rarely found on chives.
