Pull gerbera in the garden

Garden gerbera - more robust than indoor plants
Gerbera often feels more comfortable outdoors than in the house on the windowsill. Outside, she gets enough air and light and thanks her with a rich flowering.
Unfortunately, most gerbera varieties are not hardy. That's why most gardeners keep the flower as a one-year old and replant it every spring.
An alternative is the hardy variety "Garnivea", which comes in many colors and sizes. It is conditionally hardy and survives temperatures down to minus five degrees. It is advisable to choose a sheltered location and to cover the plants in winter.
So plant gerbera in the garden
The plants are placed so deep in the soil that the root crown remains on the earth's surface. The planting distance to other plants should be at least 50 centimeters. Gerbera develops quite large leaves that need their place.
Make sure that the potting soil is always slightly wet, but not wet. Always water the gerbera from below.
Keep Gerbera perennial in the garden
Since most varieties are not hardy, you must dig them out in the fall. For this, prick up the root ball generously and put the plant in a pot.
Overwinter the gerbera in a bright place with temperatures between 12 and 15 degrees. During hibernation, it is enough to give some water once or twice a month. It does not work.
The gerbera can be put back in the garden next year after the ice saints at the end of May.
