The family of the rose family is estimated to be about 3,000 species very large and includes many well-known varieties of fruit as well as numerous shrubs and trees, especially the eponymous roses are mentioned. Roses, apples, pears, quinces, plums, strawberries, raspberries, ranunculus, almonds, peaches, cherries, hawthorn, medlars, forest goatee, lady's mantle and many other well-known garden plants seem so different externally, but have one thing in common: they are more or less closely related and are therefore counted to the family of the rose family. Within this are very many fruit trees and shrubs and ornamental plants of high economic importance. Above all, the different types of fruit (not only strawberries and raspberries, but also all stone and pome fruit varieties are part of this large plant family) are nutritionally important for humans immensely important.
Special features in the flower structure
Take an apple and a wild rose flower on occasion and look at both more closely. You will find that the composition of both flowers is congruent, because both species have flowers with five calyx and five petals in radial symmetry structure. Even the filled flowers of some precious and shrub roses are structured the same way, even if superficially they look completely different. Here only the pollen to other petals were transformed. It is also typical that in many rose plants a part of the flower soil forms the fruit with, for example, as in the case of pome fruit, the ovules thick meaty wrapped (for example, the apple or the pear).
Tips
Most rose plants have very large flowers, which are usually zwittrig and dependent on cross-pollination.
