Right, then the precious wet should also be collected and used for garden irrigation. For some years now, municipal administrations have been using very creative ways to get more (yet) more money from tax-paying residents and invented the rainwater charge.
Without losing ourselves now in the complicated fee structures: drinking and sewage prices explode in many places, so that the house connection has become almost a taboo for the irrigation of the garden beds. Although our solution for irrigation is far away from the fully automated and telemonitored SmartHome mainstream, it is, however, suitable for everyday use and without great financial effort or programming knowledge. The declared goal was to invest no more than € 300 for a garden with a total size of over 500 m2. The complete solution shows the first picture.

The bottom line is exactly 249.01 euros and worked well in the thunderstorms at the end of June and with a roof area of about 45 m2. The container was completely filled up to the upper edge in just under three hours so that our downpipe could be closed.
The PVC pipe connection between gutter and rainwater tank can be moved horizontally and is adjusted left and right only with one brick in accordance with the strength of the exiting amount of water pas.
The installation of the downpipe flap was done quickly. According to the size of the flap, the tube was sawed out, pressed in at the top and soldered watertight at the bottom.
This water pump works surprisingly well
The high flow rate as well as the generated water pressure of the Einhell wastewater pump has, to be honest, quite surprised. With such values we would not have expected in the league of the lower price range. It is built very robust, the float works precisely and the engine noise is hardly noticeable in the operating state. Some of the most important technical data of the Einhell GH-DP 7835:
Tips & Tricks
In practical operation, the garden beds and everything else that grows, such as hedges, trees and shrubs, irrigated exclusively by hand. That is, the hose is equipped at the front with a spray nozzle, which is relatively wide open. In view of the flow rate and pressure generated, we believe it is best not to overly restrict the flow of water in order to maximize pump life. The use of ½ "hoses or the connection of a sprinkler, we would therefore not recommend.
