Almost all Bartiris varieties are true sun worshipers. In particular, the large-flowered cultivars love sunny spots and should be "refueled" on sunny days for at least 6 hours from direct sunlight. The rhizome of a bearded iris should be planted as directly after the flowering period as possible (in most varieties in midsummer).
