The heyday of Phacelia
The genus Phacelia is now commonly referred to as a "bee lover" because the flowers of this plant can produce relatively high amounts of nectar. At the same time, the fast-awake bee pasture is also used as an intermediate seed and green manure to improve the soil.
Summer bloomer with endurance
The main flowering period of the Phacelia is in nature and self-sowing between June and September. As new flowers gradually open on the tuft-like inflorescences, the total flowering time is quite several weeks. During this time, every single flower can produce daily nectar with a sugar content of 0.7 to 1 milligram of sugar, depending on the weather, making the plant a magnet for bees and other flying insects.

Since the Phacelia blooms at a suitable location already four to five weeks after sowing, it is often used by beekeepers as bee pasture in low-yielding months.
