Combine pampas grass with other plants
Pampas grass with its filigree flower fronds is a decorative eye-catcher in every garden. The ornamental grass is best used when it stands alone. But also in the perennial border, it forms a very nice background and is also a good visual protection.
Cultivate pampas grass as an individual plant
Especially beautiful varieties such as the pink pampas grass should treat you to a single place in the garden. On large lawns, it is particularly good effect.
To do this, prune a circular piece of grass of about one meter in diameter at the desired location. Although the ornamental grass is initially very small, it will turn into a huge, decorative ornamental shrub within a few years.
Perennial beds with pampas grass
Due to its size, pampas grass belongs in the perennial border or in the corner for ornamental grasses to the rear. In the foreground you combine smaller ornamental grass varieties or colorful summer flowers.
Long, slender bulbous plants, such as gladioli in front of the pampas grass, have a particularly decorative effect. But purple lavender harmonizes very well with the ornamental grass.

If you combine pampas grass with other plants, consider the size. A mature ornamental grass takes lower plants light and sun. Make sure all plants get enough nutrients.
Keep a distance of at least one meter.
Share too large shrubs
If the pampas grass gets too big over the years, dig up the rootstock and divide the plant. You can rejuvenate them by removing rotten root parts.
Often it is also sufficient if you simply cut off the eyrie at the edge to make the plant smaller. Pampas grass is robust and drives reliably again.
Repelled root parts can be replanted for propagation in another place.
Tips
Pampas grass is not poisonous. Nevertheless, care should be taken when choosing a location. The leaves are razor-sharp and can hurt the skin even when touched.
