How attractant traps work

The inventors copied their mode of operation from nature: Pheromone traps, for example, contain synthetic sexual attractants, which are modeled on the smell signals of females ready to mate - quite typical of their species, so that they can specifically catch only certain types of insects. These traps attract the males, which then stick to the glue. The females in turn wait in vain for a mating and can not lay eggs accordingly. In this way, the infestation can be well limited, with an ever new Zuflug of males, the hanging of attractant traps is of course not sufficient.
What types of attractant traps are there
In addition to the pheromone traps, fruit tables also use color plates that function according to a similar principle as described above. The difference is that the animals do not react to sex attractants but to certain colors. Glue-coated color plates are hung in the tree, while glue rings are attached to the trunks of the fruit trees and their piles between September and mid-March (pests such as the frost-free females crawl up here as well).
