Magnolia is best propagated through mosses

It is not so easy to multiply a beautifully grown magnolia. The classic cuttings propagation does not work with the magnolia, as their sticks are very difficult to take root. Even pulling a young magnolia from the seeds is a difficult task. On the one hand, because magnolia seeds are difficult to germinate and, on the other hand, because the trees that grow out of it only blossom after ten or more years. Nobody wants to wait that long. Instead, however, the multiplication works well with the bmoai friends, known as the abmooses - a technique not unlike the sinking - especially good.

Propagation over sinkers

Although saplings almost never hit roots in magnolias, the increase in abscess rates shows, provided you have the necessary patience, mostly good results. However, this method works only when the magnolia has not shot up too much and you can pull a selected shoot to the ground. Otherwise, you should resort to the Abmoosen. Since it takes about eight to ten months, until the sinker itself has formed roots and therefore can be separated from the mother plant, an early start by April at the latest is inevitable. And so you multiply your magnolia over sinkers:

Lowering is not necessarily a fast form of propagation, but the grown plants are vigorous and already used to the soil in which they are supposed to ripen.

Magnolia grow over mosses

Magnification of the magnolia is particularly easy to achieve via the so-called "mossing". There are different techniques, whereby the following has proven itself:

After a few months, roots will have formed in the gap, so that you can separate the sinker from the mother plant and, first of all, plant it in a pot. The young magnolia should not be planted outside until the following spring.

Tips

Regardless of which method of lowering you decide, always make sure that the area to be rooted is kept well moist. Only then will the roots develop.
