Jerusalem artichoke is one of the short-day plants. The flowers only open when the days get shorter. Each stalk develops 5 to 15 inflorescences that reach a diameter of up to ten centimeters.
Depending on the variety, the flowering period begins in late summer and lasts until late autumn.
Tips & Tricks
The pretty flowers of Jerusalem artichoke are well suited as cut flowers for bouquets. Cutting also stimulates tuber formation for a richer crop.
