Privet needs a lot of moisture just after planting, but without waterlogging. The cheapest planting time is therefore spring or early autumn. Then in the soil usually sufficient residual moisture is present and the roots ripen well before winter.
If you plant the privet in the summer, you have to water abundantly so that the roots grow. This is also necessary if it rained before or rain is announced.
You should first place the root ball in a bucket of water for a few hours to allow the roots to soak up moisture.

Prepare the soil well before inserting. Provide a water-permeable substrate and prevent waterlogging.
