Leyland cypresses grow very quickly in a favorable, somewhat sheltered, sunny spot. Each year they increase in height and width between 50 and 100 centimeters.
Regular cutting helps to limit growth. In the hedge, the "bastard cypresses" are usually kept at a height of three to five meters.
By cutting back, you also promote growth and achieve better branching of the trees.
Tips
Due to their growth, the unfortunately poisonous Leyland cypresses are popularly called "neighbor's fright". Do not let a hedge of Leyland cypress get too tall so that there is no hassle with the neighbors.
