So you can build a waterfall of artificial rocks yourself
No doubt about it: A waterfall made of natural stones looks particularly natural and is an attractive eye-catcher in the garden. However, natural stone chunks are not only heavy and - depending on size and weight - also quite unwieldy, they also cost a lot of money. With self-built artificial rocks, on the other hand, you will spare both your strength and your wallet.
It's so easy to make artifical rocks yourself
You can buy artificial rocks at the hardware store or garden shop - or you can do it yourself with simple means. And that is how it works:
For base materials you need polystyrene, if necessary PP or PE foil, Haraht, mortar mixed with trass cement, sand and tile adhesive, as well as epoxy resin and fine granite sand. The quantities depend on how big the artificial rock should / should eventually be. The mortar mixture consists of one part trass cement, three parts sand, one part tile adhesive, water and a splash of detergent and should be well kneadable. The basic structure of the artificial rock consists of the pas stacked and cut Styrofoam, which was first wrapped in foil and then with Haraht. The wire essentially serves for stabilization.
The finished rock or rocks can now be used to decorate or build a waterfall.
Tips
In order to make the artificial rock look even more real, you can also paint it in dark colors with a very diluted tinting color. Be sure to dye wells darker than higher spots. This will give you more depth.
