Kiwis have season all year round
The vitamin-rich kiwifruit are available throughout the year in German supermarkets. They come from New Zealand, Chile or Italy to Germany and taste fruity-fresh after a mixture of strawberries, melon and gooseberry.
Kiwifruit came to New Zealand from China at the beginning of the twentieth century as a Chinese gooseberry and was later exported to the world under the name of the New Zealand bird. To date, the Hayward variety accounts for most of the fruits grown worldwide.

In our supermarkets, the kiwis are offered all year round. In the spring they are delivered to us from the southern hemisphere, in autumn and winter from southern Europe:
Tips & Tricks
The kiwifruit are among the so-called climacteric fruits that are harvested immature in the growing countries and ripen during transport and storage.
